Good morning and welcome to Kid News!

We're on our summer break, but that doesn't mean we can't keep those news neurons firing

with a few of our favorite critical thinking questions.

Every day we'll bring you a Kid News classic from the past year or so, followed by a

newdler challenge to see if you can make the story your own.

In October of 2022, New Jersey got a bit cheeky in its efforts to cut down on traffic accidents.

Highway signs flash drivers with seasonal messages, like, focus, focus, drive with focus,

and sarcastic ones like, nice car, does it come with a turn signal?

The new signs are part of Jersey's answer to a sharp rise in crashes, but they might not

be having the desired impact.

The new Jersey Department of Transportation even tweeted recently, if you keep taking photos

of the signs while driving, we will turn this car around and go back to the old messages.

Do you think road signs with funny messages are harmful or helpful?

If you think they are helpful, come up with three or more that would encourage drivers

not to text and drive.

If you think they are distracting and harmful, what do you think is a better way to get drivers

to pay more attention to the road?
