Hi everybody, it's Joe Lampel, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Well, without a doubt, the subject that we talk about more than any other on this podcast

show is all about the beloved tomato.

To date, most of that time has been with Craig Lahouier, where we cover everything from

how to grow and care for them all through the season from the moment we put the seeds

into the soil all the way through to the post-harvest season assessment, kind of that post-mortem.

Well, today we're talking tomatoes again, but this time it's completely different from

any conversation that we've had on the subject.

This time we're venturing well beyond what we do to grow the best tasting healthiest tomato

plants and taking a deep dive into the commercial tomato growing industry with an eye-opening

look by Barry Esterbrook, the author of one of my favorite books, Tomato Land.

I first mentioned that book several weeks ago in podcast episode 62, with the title Great

Garden Reads Must Have Books for Every Gardener.

Well, included in that list, I had a few books that are just a really fun read or maybe

a captivating read, and Tomato Land was certainly that.

It's one such book that I just couldn't put down.
