What is up, good people, and welcome back to another episode of the Hookit podcast. Before we crack on with today's podcast, I want to take a few minutes of your time to explain to you about project change and give you a little bit of the backstory as to why this thing has come around. Around two and a half years ago, I launched the very first episode of this podcast. At the time, it was a huge

0:21.6

leap into the unknown, but I was already a massive podcast fan and I had a very vague idea as to

0:27.3

what I wanted to try and achieve with this platform. One of the main objectives was to put a podcast

0:32.1

out to the world that was centered around my love for all things two-wheeled and action sports,

0:36.9

but also at some point be able to use

0:38.9

the platform for some good, as well as along the way, be able to motivate, inspire and hopefully

0:44.0

make some people laugh as well. So I'm extremely happy to have launched Project Change last

0:50.2

week. Project Change is a brand new initiative that is centered around this podcast, but also the

0:57.6

wider mountain bike and cycle community, bringing everyone together to try and be a force for good

1:02.9

and provide real change into the people's lives who really deserve it. The first two charities

1:08.7

that I would like to try and support are Sheffield Cycling for All and

1:12.5

mental health cycling. Sheffield Cycling for All provides active, inclusive weekly

1:19.6

sessions for children and adults with a range of disabilities. The sessions are run by qualified

1:24.7

and experienced cycle leaders, but the project relies very,

1:27.7

very heavily on volunteers.

1:30.2

They use adapted bikes like tandems and wheelchair tracks to get disabled people out cycling.

1:36.1

But unfortunately, their funding has come to an end, the bikes are getting super tired, and

1:41.0

they actually don't have enough bikes to fulfill the demand of people wanting to come and cycle.

1:46.0

So they usually get around 40 to 50 people each week, but they only have 20 bikes.

1:51.0

And like I say, a lot of these bikes are starting to get tired and I would like to try and raise some money to be able to buy a adapted bike for them. So that's the first charity that I would

2:03.1

like to try and support. The second one is actually run next door to Sheffield Cycling for All,

2:07.7

and it's called Mental Health Cycling. And it's a brand new initiative. They use the same bikes
