After 60 long years, back in 1961, ten-year-old Gwen Goldman sent a letter to the Yankees

asking to be a Batgirl.

The request reached then GM Roy Hamey, who took the time to write back and say, no, in

a game dominated by men he wrote, a young lady such as herself would feel out of place.

That stinging rejection still hangs on Gwen's wall, and her daughter Abby was having none

of it.

She shot off a letter to current GM Brian Cashman, who promptly invited Gwen to make her

dugout debut this past Monday night.
