Good morning and welcome to kid news. I'm Tori. It's Tuesday, June 22nd, 2021. And we begin

with a big change for the Olympics. Organizers of the summer games just announce that spectators

will be allowed at this summer's games in Japan, but they will cap attendance at 10,000

people or half a venue's capacity, whichever is smaller. And only people who live in the

host country can attend. No one from overseas will be able to go. Officials also warn that

they might still band spectators all together if COVID infections go up dramatically before

the games start next month. Japan's vaccination drive is finally getting going, and so far

around 17% of the population has received at least one shot.

One silver lining for the pandemic, a lot of seniors learned about texting and social

media and are using it as a way to bond with their grandchildren. A new survey found

a third of those 65 and older now prefer texting to phone calls. Their favorite emojis

are hearts and a happy face along with assorted animals. The survey by one poll also found nearly

one in five were introduced to Netflix in the last year by their kids or grandkids. And
