Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, June 4th, 2025.

We begin with a volcanic eruption in Italy, captivating the world with a

spectacular show. Mount Etna, a volcano that towers over eastern Sicily, erupted Monday,

sending a plume of gases, ash, and rock high into the air. Tourists and hikers were forced to flee

the area with one guide telling CNN,

it arrived all at once, an immense smoke, immense, immense roar. Explosions were heard as far as 30

miles away. All were evacuated safely and all three lava flows are now cooling. Although Mount

Etna is one of the world's most active volcanoes and has

erupted several times this year, this is reportedly the first eruption of this magnitude since

2014. The event was likely caused by a collapse of material from the side of a southeast crater.

Talk about a sticky situation, a truck hauling about 70,000 pounds of honeybee hives

rolled over in Bellingham, Washington this weekend. The driver was not hurt, but about 250 million

honeybees escaped, causing quite a buzz as sheriff's deputies, county employees, and bee experts

swarmed to the scene while the public was told to stay away to avoid getting stung.

According to CNN, local beekeepers recovered, restored, and reset the hives.
