0:25.1	Well, we have a noun that can also be a verb today.
0:29.9	It is a sub, a sub.
0:33.3	And as a verb, we usually say to sub for or subbing for.
0:40.8	So I need a sub.
0:45.3	Somebody that can sub for me.
0:49.4	Are you subbing today?
0:52.6	I'm a sub.
0:55.0	So what does it mean to be a sub?
0:58.7	Well, it does not mean a submarine.
1:02.1	We all live in the yellow submarine.

1:07.8	It actually is short for a substitute teacher, usually teacher, but
1:14.1	anyway, a substitute. So you're a teacher, but you are sick, so you need another person to
1:22.8	replace you. That is a substitute teacher. I used to be a DJ on the radio, but if I got sick, I would need someone
1:33.7	else to be the DJ for that day, so I needed a substitute, a substitute DJ. So the idea for a sub to be a sub is a person who works instead of somebody else because they are sick or they're busy.
1:55.5	And the idea of a sub is the job is very important or seemingly important so it just can't be canceled.
