Hey folks, today's episode was originally recorded for the Kevin Rose show. Many of you may already be

0:06.4

familiar with Kevin thanks to his history as a notable personality in the technology world.

0:11.4

His frequent guest appearances on the Tim Ferriss show and the many, many podcasts he's

0:16.8

hosted over the years. However, those of you who are not familiar with Kevin, he comes at a lot

0:22.4

of this health and lifestyle stuff as an honest to goodness hard core and equals one self-experimenter.

0:28.4

I think this really imparts a certain spirit of practicality and implementation

0:32.8

emphasized a little more in this conversation than others I've had. Not to mention he has

0:38.2

quite a few highly relevant anecdotes he drops in too. Given some of the unique discussion we had,

into a form of omega-3 D.H.A. metabolite that utilizes a specialized system of active transport

1:09.3

mediated by a transporter called M.F.S. D.2.A., which helps get the D.H.A. across the blood brain

barrier. This is important because an alternative means of transport, which is passive diffusion,

1:22.5

may become less effective as disease and aging impairs the blood brain barrier.

1:27.7

With as important as omega-3 D.H.A. is for the brain, finding new and better ways to get it

1:33.2

transported into the brain may be good news. While phospholipid H.A., which is uniquely found in

some specialized sources like fish row, where it makes up up to 40% of the total D.H.A. content

1:45.1

may stack the deck in favor of getting a greater quantity of this actively transported D.H.A.

metabolite called D.H.A. Lysophosphatylcholine, where we also end up with more of this metabolite

just through greater intake of marine omega-3 fatty acids as a whole. Since at least some of the D.H.A.

Lysophosphatylcholine gets produced even from more conventional forms of D.H.A. we get,
