I would say the most rewarding part of Glitter for a Cause is receiving photos of kids, reading my books, or doing the kindness kits, and how much that something as little as a story I wrote when I was six has impacted so many people.

That's 16-year-old Callie Chapman from Alabama, the author of the Glitter the Unicorn Children's book series with a slogan Dream Big.

She's also just created the free Glitter for a Cause Kindness Kit that helps any kid dream up big ways to help out their community.

Callie joins us now on Kid News Convos.

Callie, it's great to have you. So you wrote

your first book at age six? Yes, ma'am. And what inspired you to do that? Well, my elementary

school every year hosted an art contest called Expressions Art Contest. And I always wanted to join

because I have two older brothers and they were always

super excited about it. So I entered in in just about every single category and I wrote Glitter

of the Unicorn, a story. It's based off of my favorite stuffed animals at the time, Glitter and

Ellie. And I entered it in for the art contest against second graders

and kindergarters and first graders. And at the time, I was in first grade. And I got Honorable

Mention and my mom thought it was too cute just for honorable mention. So she decided from there

to publish the book, mainly for gifts for my family for Christmas,

but then other friends and family started asking for it. And then that's when we kind of started to

publish it officially. Wonderful. And then it just kind of took off from there? Yes, ma'am.

That's great. And you have five books now, is that correct?

Yes, five books.

Okay.

And you've now created a new offering, I guess you could call it,

glitter for cause kindness kit.

So can you explain what are these kits and what made you decide to offer them for free?
