And we begin with Americans hitting the roads and taking to the skies for a long holiday

weekend. But sometimes lost in the rush to relax is the real reason behind the extra

day off. Memorial Day is meant as a time to remember and honor our fallen soldiers. And

for the third year in a row, CBS News is organizing a coast-to-coast tribute called Taps Across

America. The idea is for musicians of all ages and talents to play the 24-note bugle

call at 3pm local time on Monday, no matter where they might be. Tens of thousands of people

participated last year from their rooftops, porches, and even from work. For those who

might hear the highly recognizable haunting tune, traditions suggest you stand in silence

facing the music with one hand over your heart.

A controversial quarterback may be working his way back into the NFL. Colin Kaepernick

practiced with the Las Vegas Raiders this week, hoping to earn a spot behind starter Derek

Carr. It was Mr. Kaepernick's first time training with a pro team since his days with the Niners

in 2016, which is when he began kneeling during the National Anthem to draw attention

to racial injustice. The owner of the Raiders has said in the past that if his coaches want

Colin on the roster, he would welcome him to the team with open arms.

It sounds a bit fishy, but scientists in Germany say they've taught stingrays to do basic

math. First, the researchers had to find out if the creatures could be trained to recognize

the color blue as a symbol for addition and yellow for subtraction. Then the researchers

showed them cards with shapes to see if they could count how many were on each, before

using the blue to add and yellow to subtract. The upshot stingrays can pretty much master
