Today is Friday, May 22nd, 2026, the start of a long holiday weekend.

And we begin with Mother Nature crashing the Memorial Day party. Stormy weather is raining down

on a large swath of the U.S. with thunderstorms and flash flooding making a mess of getaway day

for millions of Americans. As of late yesterday afternoon, more than 5,500 flights

were delayed or canceled, and in New York, a sinkhole forced the closure of a runway at LaGuardia

Airport. The weekend forecast is waterlog for much of the East Coast and Southern Texas. Those in the

west, far southeast, and Rockies should be in the clear.
