We begin with what was supposed to be D-Day for the Real ID. But once again, the feds are

softening their stance on what kind of identification is needed to fly the friendly skies.

Starting today, airport security was supposed to turn away anyone 18 or older

who didn't have either that little holograph star in the upper right-hand corner of their license

or their passport.

Yesterday, however, the Department of Homeland Security backpedaled. Those

without the Star can still travel for now, but may be diverted to a different line to go through

another step to verify their identity. The Real ID Act was passed way back in 2005 in response

to 9-11. Implementation of it has been pushed back repeatedly.
