Today we have a great expression that you can use if someone THINKS what you said was silly or stupid or ridiculous! Believe it or not, sometimes I say stupid things! I know, you probably think I'm nearly perfect. That I have an IQ of around 150. That leaders around the world seek my advice on Policies for Peace. That I am the English coach for movie and rock stars ALL OVER THE WORLD. That Hollywood studios are constantly calling me begging me to act in their latest films. 0:42.7	Today's expression is to scoff at, S-C-O-F-F, scoff at, to scoff at something, to scoff at someone.
0:46.8	Now, how do we use this expression? Well, sometimes people say something that you completely disagree with.
0:56.1	You think it's stupid.
0:57.6	It's ridiculous.
0:59.6	For example, somebody might say,
1:02.5	Oh my God, do you know Coach Shane, the English teacher?
1:06.7	He's so handsome.
1:10.8	And you think, what?
1:14.1	He is so ugly.
1:16.4	And your response is,
1:18.8	what are you talking about?
1:22.6	Get a, what?
1:25.1	No way.
1:29.6	Your reaction. Your reaction is scoff. To scoff. You are scoffing at what that person said. The person said,
1:38.4	Cochane is so handsome. And you are scoffing at that. You think what they said is stupid.
1:45.5	You think what they did or what they are saying is ridiculous.
1:50.4	Now, many times when people scoff at something, they don't say, oh, scoff, scoff, scoff.
1:56.6	They don't say that.
1:57.4	They do this.
