There is a lawsuit that I want to share with you.

And this is a local lawsuit, Riverside County, which is east of here, east of where I am in the San Frano Valley, L.A. County.

And it is, it was against the Mormon church and against a stepfather.

This woman is suing the church, stepfather, and her mom for sexual abuse.

They were all within the church.

And part of the church is, well, it complains.

It sort of controls your life.

I don't know if you've seen documentaries or talked to anybody.

The kind of control is pretty extensive.

And she had gone to her superiors or leaders of the church.

I don't know what particular title they had and complained about the abuse.

And they turned around.

And the accusation was that the church leaders protected the stepfather and the mother,

told her she shouldn't sue, told her she was wrong, and she went ahead and sued

and was able to establish that abuse did happen.

And the three wrongdoers are the church, stepdad, mom.

And the jury came back and said, yeah, all of it is true.

And awarded her, I mean, this is kind of insane,

awarded her $836 million in damages and $1.4 billion in punitive damages. I've talked about

punitive damages before, you know, that is is when there is a lot of wrongdoing, and this is a civil matter, it's not a criminal matter. When there is a lot of wrongdoing, punitive damages kick in. Sometimes by law, sometimes a jury or a judge that says,'ve, I've got to punish you, punitive.
