Today is Friday, April 25th, 2025. And we begin with a red-capped troublemaker on the loose in Massachusetts. For weeks, locals in the seaside town of Rockport say a giant bird has gone rogue, pecking at more than 25 cars and smashing side mirrors and windshields. The culprit?

A crow-sized, pilliated woodpecker with black and white feathers, a bright red crest and

stripe along its cheekbone. Experts say it's most likely a male attacking its own reflection.

Because its peak mating season, birds this time of year get territorial and aggressive,

especially if they think another flashy feathered rival is moving in on their turf. Residents are

protecting their property as best they can by parking in garages, folding in mirrors, or wrapping

them in plastic bags. But as one vandal victim said of the beautiful creature, it's hard to be mad at him.
