This morning I want to draw some truths out of the book of James chapter 2

verses 12 and 13. James is one of my favorite books because he's a guy who just shoots

straight he tells it like it is and I would much rather deal with a

person who tells me like it is because I don't have to wonder what they really mean.

James is very clear and you'll see that in these verses that we're going to look at today.

This is James chapter 2 verses 12 and 13.

James says, so speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. Now the context of

this passage is a section where James has been encouraging the believers who are

reading this letter not to show favoritism.

And he gives an example of a rich person coming into their gathering as a church and a poor

person coming in at the same time and they give the rich person the good

seat and they give the poor person a seat on the floor and he says that's that's

evil you shouldn't be doing that You're making judgments about those people and you have bad

motives when you do that. And so he goes on to say you should love your neighbor as yourself. and your neighbor is both of those people the rich and the poor

And he's saying you need to make sure that you are not making judgments according to false motives according to evil motives and so that's

where these verses come in he says so speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.
