Hello, everybody. Welcome back. Thank you, as always, for listening.

We got a bit of a different one today. Today is not a typical sort of in the weeds, technical-ish discussion about a particular area of retirement or tax planning. This one's more just sort of me waxing my thoughts about something in the industry that I don't particularly agree with.

0:56.6

And it's about the value that there is in financial advisory services. Now, specifically for this

1:05.0

episode, I'll focus it just on the financial advisory services that are focused on retirement planning, you know,

1:11.8

retirement-focused services, including management of investments. I know there's a lot of value in

1:18.2

those things. I know many people will find a lot of value and reason and happiness in working

advisor. Now, why do I bring this up? There's a handful, well, probably more than a handful,

1:44.1

but there's a lot of advisors in the industry who make claims, disingenuous claims, in my opinion, because again, it's impossible to measure value, claims such as, I bet I can deliver at least twice my annual fee in value or I've seen literal challenges put out to people on places like LinkedIn between advisors saying, you know, let's each do a sample financial plan.

I bet I can provide at least twice the quantifiable value as you or there's some coaches out there who focus on helping advisors

2:21.1

build more profitable or larger or more efficient businesses where they often pitch it as

2:29.6

your pricing, your fee should be based on the value delivered, which is kind of a red herring,

2:34.6

because as you'll see in this episode, you can't actually measure value delivered. So how can you

2:39.4

pretend to base the dollar amount of your fee off of something that doesn't exist? So that's the

2:46.0

origin of this episode. Again, it's a little, little different. It's just me sort of sitting here,

2:51.4

spewing my thoughts about this. I am, by the time this podcast come out, I don't know if the
