Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast.

Today's podcast, today's expression is to fall flat. To fall flat. Something fell flat.

Mm-hmm. Yep. I hope I don't fall flat. Don't worry. You're not going to fall flat. F-A-L-L-L-F-L-F-L-A-T. Flat, F-L-A-T. Flat like a pancake or, you know,

the opposite of flat would be, you know, hilly. So if you go, if you're in the desert,

the road is very flat, but if you're in the mountains,

it's very hilly.

There's lots of mountains.

So fall flat.

To fall flat, what does it mean?

It means to fail.

F-A-I-L.

It really failed.

So, for example, I had a proposal at my office.

I had an idea.

So we had a meeting and I told the CEO, I told the boss and all the other bosses, this

is my idea.

I want to start this type of a business, this type of product.

And everybody said, boo, that's a stupid idea.

That's a terrible idea.

We're never going to do it.
