On April 29, 1992, Los Angeles and the surrounding areas erupted into violent rioting, unlike anyone of this generation had seen. In the wake of the acquittals of the 4 LAPD officers who had beaten and kicked Rodney King more than a year earlier had set off a torrent of violence, attacks on innocent bystanders, looting, and arson that held Southern California under siege for 5 days.
