I do these episodes every morning of every day for your sake and for my sake so that we can

get our heads into the word of God and wrap ourselves in it. We need our mindset soaked with what God says about himself,

about the world we live in, and about us, so that we can think rightly as we face the situations that come at us every day.

And this morning I am continuing a walk I've been doing through the book of James

and we're not doing the whole book but there's just a section here in chapter one that just lately for me has been so rich.

I want to unpack it a little bit and show you what the Lord's been showing me.

This is in James chapter one, and we're going to look at verses 9 through 11 today.

And when you first read this passage it feels kind of like a downer because he's

talking about people dying and withering like flowers of the field you know but but the

point is such a powerful point let's read it James 1 verses 9 through 11 it says

let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation and the rich in his humiliation.

Because, here's the reason, like a flower of the grass, he will pass away.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass, its flower falls, and its

beauty perishes.

So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

So what is James telling us here?

I mean he says we're supposed to boast. If you're lowly, humble, maybe poor

would be another word, you're supposed to boast in your exaltation. And if you're rich or your high in the totem pole so
