Hey good morning. How you doing today? This is Carrie Green. Maybe I'm just a

brother in the Lord who's here to help you think about your faith and your life rightly today.

And I started yesterday taking you through a section of the book of James

where James encouraged us to count it joy when we meet trials of various kinds.

And today I want to continue with verse 5 of chapter 1 of the book of James.

And it talks about wisdom.

This is a very familiar passage to many people.

But I want to walk through it and highlight some things that maybe you haven't thought of much before.

Because I've never heard many sermons preached on it so I kind of expect that most people

haven't thought this through but let's read the passage and then we'll come back

and unpack it a little bit it says if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all of us,

isn't it? Yeah, if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to

all without reproach and it will be given to him. But let him ask

in faith with no doubting. For the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.

He's a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

James starts out with this if statement, and it's really not an if statement.

It's like a rhetorical question, you know.

He's saying, uh, does any of you lack wisdom?

Well, the answer is obvious.

Of course we do.

We all need more wisdom.
