Summary

We face dozens if not hundreds of decisions every single day--from big decisions to tiny ones, and they all take energy.

As HSPs, we put so much care and energy into everything we do, that making all these decisions can wear us out, leaving us with insufficient energy for the important things in our life!

In this episode, I give some examples of ways to reduce the number of choices you have to make in your daily life. While there is no way to have a truly decision free life, by preparing and planning ahead, we can eliminate some of them!

This is the highly sensitive person podcast, a weekly podcast for people who care deeply about

0:10.1

everything. Join me on a journey to accept the way we intensely experience the world.

Hey everyone, how's it going today? I'm your host Kelly, and today I want to talk about a

0:25.1

concept called Decision-Free Living. Just let that soak in for a moment, a life devoid of energy-sucking

0:33.2

decisions. Every single day, we are faced with lots and lots of decisions, from little

0:40.6

decisions like what to wear, what to eat for lunch, to bigger decisions. And every one of

0:47.0

those little decisions takes a lot of energy out of us. All of the energy we spend on these

0:53.0

little decisions accumulates over the course of a day.

0:56.0

Because as HSPs, we analyze everything before we make a decision. Every little piece of

1:03.0

information, we turn it over in our heads and weigh every option because we don't want to make a

1:08.8

wrong decision. We hate looking back at an incorrect choice that we

1:13.4

made and saying, gosh, why did I do that? If only I had taken this and that into consideration,

1:19.8

then I wouldn't have made this bad decision and we beat ourselves up about it and we can obsess over it.

1:25.3

So I thought of a few scenarios where I could implement decision-free

1:29.0

living better in my lifestyle. Maybe not decision-free living, but just fewer decision-living.

1:36.3

And one example is the food I eat. Every single day I have to go through the battle of do I eat

1:40.7

what I want or do I eat something that's healthy? Then I have to decide, well,

1:45.6

what am I going to cook? When am I going to go to the store and get the ingredients? When am I going

1:49.7

to have time to cook? But if I just did a little bit of planning ahead of time, I could eliminate

1:54.7

a lot of these decisions that happen every single day. I could find a meal plan for the entire week, go to the store, buy all the

2:01.6

ingredients, prep a bunch of stuff ahead of time, or prepare a bunch of food to eat for the rest

2:06.1

of the week, and then it's taken care of. Then I don't have to think about it very much for
