Summary

Does stagnant, warm, still air make you feel suffocated or claustrophobic? Do you need a fan or cool, fresh air to avoid a panic attack? I'm amazed to report that this specific topic is the most popular post on my blog. Who knew this was such a common thing?!

In this episode, I talk about my personal experiences with warm, still air, and offer some solutions to the issue.

Hey everyone, welcome to the highly sensitive person podcast. Every Tuesday, I'm

0:25.0

throwing down real life stories about what it's like to be in HSP, experiencing the joy,

0:31.0

discomfort, and emotions of life very intensely. On my blog, highly sensitiveperson.net, there's one post that has gotten more

0:41.8

comments than any other post, and it's about my difficulty with places that have hot, still

0:50.4

air. There are a few instances in my life where I really realize this issue I have, and two of those

0:57.7

instances were on overnight trains. During the most recent overnight train ride, I was in a

1:04.2

feel a panic, like I couldn't believe what they were doing and that I was not going to be able to

1:27.4

1:28.2

helped block out a lot of the really loud train noise. As soon as they shut that window, I told

1:33.7

myself, okay, relax, just be calm, you got to get through this. But as the moments passed,

1:40.8

I felt myself getting more and more panicked that it was just rising inside me and getting worse

1:47.8

too. And the air felt so still and so close, it was like time was standing still. It didn't help

1:55.4

that the bunk above me was literally just a few inches from my face. Eventually, I said, screw all politeness, I don't care.

2:05.4

I got up and I opened that window again. Another instance when I experienced this feeling was on a

2:12.1

four-hour bus ride in Thailand. All of the passengers were packed onto this bus. As many people as could possibly fit in

2:20.7

this van were packed in there, and the air conditioning was pretty much non-existent. I immediately felt a
