2020. And we begin with Simba the dog having quite a story to tell, if only he could. The two-year-old pup had been missing from his Florida home for

over two months before turning up last week in a Michigan backyard, 1400 miles from home.

Chris Gibson discovered the stray pooch

while letting her own dog outside.

When she brought the wayward Pre-Sic Canario,

which is a type of mastiff,

to a local animal hospital, vets found he was equipped with a microchip that

identified his owners and a reunion was soon in the works.

Most likely Simba's travel adventures will forever remain a mystery, but the happy ending is an important reminder.

Sometimes dogs do run away, but having a chip is one of the best ways to get them back.
