And we begin with a 14-year-old wowing the crowd

en route to becoming the youngest surfer to qualify for the upcoming Olympics.

C. Kyi Yang is from China, a country not known for surfing, but she made the cut following

a stellar performance of the world surfing competition in Puerto Rico.

Her rise through the ranks began when she was just nine.

She admits she was afraid of the waves at first,

but her dedication soon caught the eye of Japan's surfing coach, who believes

his young prodigy has a super-rad future.

The 2024 summer games are being held in Paris, but the surfing venue will be half a world away in Tahiti,

an island in French Polynesia in the Pacific Ocean.
