Hey friends, welcome back to our summer series at the R Joe Simon's podcast. This summer, we are meditating on the fruit of the spirit. I figured if we're going to have summer days where sometimes it's super fun and we have wonderful plans and sometimes we don't and we're getting a little exhausted at the lack of routine.

0:38.9

My prayer is that this series, through the podcast, would just help us reset, week by week,

0:45.4

focusing on the very characteristics and attributes that we would like to have. We would like

0:52.6

to have the fruit of spirit, but we can't produce that fruit on our own.

0:56.6

So the goal of this summer series is for us to listen to the scriptures that remind us

1:02.3

how this fruit is formed in our lives by the spirit to the glory of God.

1:08.8

So if you haven't joined us from the beginning, it's not too late.

1:12.5

Listen to today's podcast, go back to the beginning, start at the very start of the summer

1:29.9

but the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness

1:40.1

gentleness self-control against things, there is no law. Today, this week, we're talking about

1:49.9

goodness. I don't know that this is one of the fruit of the spirit. I don't think it's one of the

1:57.2

aspects of the fruit that I think about a lot. If I'm honest, I tend to think,

2:04.5

I'm good, right? I mean, pun intended, I guess, I'm good. I think I'm doing okay. Like,

2:11.2

goodness is not like self-control. I mean, self-control, I'm readily like, Spirit, please produce that fruit in my

2:19.9

life. But in goodness, I think I underestimate how much the Lord needs to work that out in my life,

2:29.3

that it's not goodness out of my own strength, out of my own morality, or even out of my own standards.

2:39.5

That goodness is to reflect the goodness of God.

2:42.9

And so today we're going to listen to scriptures that will help us just settle in and

2:49.2

realign our thoughts and our hearts with goodness, the goodness of God.
