Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, February 27th, 2019.

And we begin with a chunk of ice twice the size of New York City, poised to break free in Antarctica.

Two giant cracks are growing, and if they meet as expected,

660 square miles of ice will separate from the Brent ice

shelf. It would be the largest berg to break free since monitoring of the shelf

began more than a hundred years ago.

From space, NASA is keeping tabs on the potential Berg breakup.

Scientists, though, say there's no immediate threat.

They just need to monitor it and the impact it might have on

rising sea levels. There will be high political drama on both sides of the globe
