Good morning and welcome the Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. And we begin

with a big change at the top. After a decade on the nightly anchor desk, NBC News's Lester Holt

is stepping down. Mr. Holt has been the face, voice, and steady editorial hand of the evening program since June of

2015 when he took over from Brian Williams. Since then, he's covered such major stories as the

COVID pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the October 2023 attack in Israel, and three presidential

elections, always ending his newscast with his signature

sign-off, please take care of yourself and each other. In a note to colleagues, he wrote,

as a 20-year-old radio reporter on the police beat chasing breaking news around San Francisco,

I could never have imagined my career path would unfold in the way it has.

What an amazing ride.

Holt plans to leave the nightly news at the beginning of the summer.

No word yet on who will replace him.
