Good morning and welcome the Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Monday, February 24th, 2025. And we begin with skier

Michaela Schifrin conquering her demons and the mountain. Yesterday in Cestriere, Italy, she won her

100th World Cup race, a historic achievement in the world of sports. The victory took a minute to sink

in. When she crossed the finish line, she couldn't find the scoreboard, then couldn't tell if it

said fourth or first. Post-victory, Michaela acknowledged the mental block that followed a bad fall

last November and isn't yet gone. The mountain ahead of me is steep and long. If I get there,

when I get there, it'll be very sweet. But for now, I have to take this day and be grateful

because it makes me feel that maybe I can be good again. Good again is quite an understatement.

As USA Today reported, Michaela's now with Michael

Phelps, LeBron James, and Simone Biles on that rare list of athletes whose records truly are

unbeatable. A setback for Pope Francis. In a late update yesterday, the Vatican announced that

he is now battling mild kidney failure

on top of pneumonia. As of this recording, he's listed in critical condition and is still on

oxygen, but is said to be alert and thankful for all the messages of support. Pope Francis is

88 years old and is the leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics.
