Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. It's Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021, and we begin with a mathematician's mind-blowing calculation.

Dr. Kit Yates of England's Bath University estimated that if you took all the COVID-19 particles that are currently floating around the planet and collected them in one place, they would all fit inside a soda can with room to spare.

Dr. Yates says there are about 2 quintillion or 2 billion billion virus particles in the world at any one time.

Even accounting for the coronavirus's projecting spiky proteins and the fact that the round particles would have small gaps when stacked together, this calculation shows the incredible tiny size of this virus.
