Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

And we begin with a photo finish and two stunning losses in the nation's first presidential primary.

Last night, New Hampshire, Senator Bernie Sanders and former Mayor Pete Buttigudge came in first

and a close second, allowing both to walk away with bragging rights and campaign momentum.

But it was the third place finish that caught everyone by surprise.

Amy Klobuchar claimed that spot and finished far ahead of both Elizabeth Warren, a senator from

neighboring Massachusetts, and Joe Biden, a former two-term vice president.

Longshot Democrat Andrew Yang apparently saw the writing on the wall and dropped out of the race last night even before the votes were done being counted.

The next big showdowns are in Nevada and South Carolina, which hold their votes later this month.

There have been a lot of tributes to Kobe Bryant in the past few weeks, but arguably none

like this one. The Lakers legend was said to be fascinated by

great whites. He even took a dip in a shark cage and reportedly used the fearsome fish

as inspiration for some of his sneaker designs.

Now one bears his name.

The Marine Conservation Science Institute did the honors.

In an odd to Kobe's Jersey, the Institute took a tagged 12-footer known as

Great White Number 24 and renamed it in his honor. More traditional tributes are in the

works for the man who called himself the Black Mamba,

most notably a star-studded memorial scheduled for February 24th at the Staple Center in Los Angeles.

Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, have already been laid to rest. A private

service was held last week in the Southern California town of Corona del Mar.

The tipping point seems to be two hours. More than that per day on social media and teens, especially girls, tend to get sad.
