Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, February 11th,

2020 and we begin with a doggone good deed. After winning the

Super Bowl, Kansas City Chief star Derek Noddy made good on his

promise to pay the adoption fees for every single dog at the Petco Adoption Center in

Kansas City. And now every kennel there is empty.

All 109 dogs are in a permanent home and Celebrity Chef Rachel Ray chipped in too.

She offered a free supply of pet food for a whole year for every dog that Notti paid for.

There are still dogs up for adoption and other shelters in Kansas City,

but they may not be available for long if the defensive tackle with a soft spot for animals

ponies up the adoption fees for them too.

If you stayed up late enough on Sunday night, you got to see the really big surprise at the Academy

Award show.

For the first time in the event's 92-year history, the Best Picture Award went to a non-English language film.

The winner, a thriller called Parasite,

was made in South Korea and had subtitles,

which until now doomed a movie's chances. Not this time, Parasite also won for Best Director, Best International

Film, and Best Screenplay. In the Best Animated Film category, Pixar extended its domination, winning for Toy Story 4, making this

the tenth time Pixar has nabbed this award and the second Toy Story film to do so, with Toy Story 3, also claiming the honor in 2011. Heavy rainfall brought some

much needed relief down under over the weekend in a single day a downpour of over four inches extinguished about a third

of the active bush fires still burning in Australia.

And officials say the rain could put even more of the remaining 40 fires out in the days to come.
