Good morning, and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, the first day of February,

2023. And we begin with, science fact stranger than fiction, as researchers attempt to bring

the long extinct Dodo bird back to life. Dodo's were bigger than turkeys, and the last known living

one was documented on the island of Mauritius off the east coast of Africa way back in 1681.

According to USA Today, the company Colossus is trying to Jurassic Park a bunch of long-gone creatures,

and the Dodo is the latest, working with researchers at the University of California Santa Cruz.

The company has sequenced the giant bird's genome, or genetic makeup, and hopes to de-extinct it,

then rewild it back onto its native island. Colossus has also announced plans to bring back the

woolly mammoth and the Tasmanian tiger. The pandemic now has an expiration date. The White House

announced yesterday that it will officially end the nationwide health emergency for COVID on May 11th.

The virus isn't gone, but experts say it's entering a new phase called an endemic,

which means we've learned to live with it without it radically affecting our lives. Will we

notice any difference? Not really. The biggest change, testing and treatment will no longer be free.

That promised blast of cold is making a mess of U.S. travel plans. Nearly 2,000 flights had to be

canceled yesterday, and thousands more were delayed when an ice storm moved from Texas up through

Tennessee. The Arctic Front now has its site set on the east coast, which could see temperatures

this weekend dropped to their lowest in seven years. He was classy and defeat. The four words

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Boros said after getting knocked out of Super Bowl contention by Kansas City

Chiefs Patrick Mahomes have been made public. According to newly released NFL footage of their
