Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast, number 195, getting close to number 200.

Today's expression is my is not up to task.

My cooking is not up to task.

My cycling is not up to task.

Such a great expression. Let's look at my first example. My cooking is not up to task. So my mother asked me to make her a chocolate cake. And I have a favorite recipe and my friend uses the recipe.

And when my friend makes the cake, it's perfect.

But whenever I use the same recipe, I don't know what happens, but cake is terrible it's too soft it's too dry

it's burnt it's not sweet enough it's not even my baking skills are terrible my baking is not up to task. My cooking skills are not up to task.

What does this mean? My cooking ability is terrible. My baking skill sucks. I'm a terrible cook. I'm a terrible baker. That's what it means.

I'm not good enough. If something is not up to task, it means you are not good enough.

You need more training. You need more practice. You need more instruction. You need more

coaching. Now where I live in the desert, lots of people have mountain bikes. And in the mountains,

there are many trails where guys are riding their bike.

So I decided about two weeks ago that I would try and ride on a mountain trail.

After about 200 meters, I realized my cycling is not up to task. Now, I'm really good on a bicycle, on the asphalt,

on the cement, on a regular road. I'm an excellent cyclist. But riding a bike on a mountain

trail is completely different. And I realized my mountain biking skills were not up to

task. I wasn't good enough. I needed more training. I needed some coaching. Does that make sense?
