| 0:34.7 | Howdy? |
| 0:35.8 | All right. So today we're going to talk about once you've |
| 0:38.9 | assembled that advisory team that we've been talking about over the last few episodes, now you're going |
| 0:42.8 | to sit down with them. And they're going to ask you some questions. That's right. And before you |
| 0:46.7 | can answer those questions, what do you need to do? Yeah, you're going to have to get organized in |
| 0:51.5 | all of this. You know, I walked into my office one morning, and I always get there way before anybody else in my office. I usually get there at 6.30, 7 o'clock in the morning. It's just my habit. So I get in there, and at 7 o'clock in the morning, phone's ringing. Which is kind of unusual. So I answer the phone. There's this young voice, a young man's voice on the phone. He's like, is this Mr. Ross? And I said, |
| 1:10.9 | yeah, this is John Ross? He says, look, is there any way I really need to talk to you? It's really important. Is there any way I could come in and see you sometime, you know, pretty soon as possible? And I was like, well, I don't know what you're doing right now, but I mean, I don't normally start setting appointments till 9 o'clock, but I'm here. So, I mean, if you want to, you know, haul your cookies over to the office, I'll visit with you right now if you want. And he was like, oh, I'm there, I'm there. I'll be there a second. So he hangs up the phone and literally 10 minutes. I don't know if the kid was just waiting down the street or what? Ten minutes later, I got this young guy walking in and he comes in and he sits down and |
| 1:46.1 | I say, okay, so what can I help you with? And he says, well, my grandpa was, you know, my grandpa was Bob Smith and I was like, okay, yeah, I remember him and, and yeah, I'd done quite a bit of estate planning for him. You know, we had done quite a few things. And I was like, you know, is everything all right? And well, he was like, well, you know, my uncle or my grandfather, I can't even remember which one he was. He said, well, he always told me that if anything ever happened to me to step over the body and call John, because he would know everything. Well, you know, |
| 2:19.6 | the funny thing was the guy had actually died over the weekend. Oh, wow. And this young man had |
| 2:24.7 | taken his grandfather at his word. I mean, he had just about literally stepped over the body |
| 2:31.0 | and called our firm because he had no idea what to do. And I started |
| 2:36.2 | talking to him about it. And he was saying that his grandfather had had some problems in the past |
| 2:40.0 | and things like that. And he was like, it was such a nightmare because we didn't know where |
| 2:44.0 | anything was. And I started talking about all of the planning that I had put together for him. |
| 2:50.5 | And he knew none of it. |
| 2:52.4 | None of it. He didn't know anything about anything. And, you know, whether you're talking about |
