Now on to the news. Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Kim. Today is Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025. And we begin with

tickets on sale today for what could be the feel-good concert of the year. In the spirit of

Band-Aid and Live Aid, huge names are coming together to raise money for victims of the Los Angeles

wildfires. Billy Eilish, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams,

Katie Perry, Sting, No Doubt, Green Day, and more are pooling their talents and donating

their time for an evening of music and solidarity. The event is called Fire Aid and will be held

in two Southern California venues on one night, January 30th.

It'll also be live streamed. The LA Clippers are picking up all costs with donations funding short-term relief efforts and long-term planning to prevent future fires.

Once in a generation, that's how forecasters are describing the winter storm blowing through

the deep south.

Up to six inches of snow was expected to fall on parts of northern Florida as of last night,

with the western and central panhandle hardest hit.

The state has never seen more than four inches, and that was decades ago.

New Orleans, which was under its first ever blizzard warning yesterday, got eight inches,

which is the most since the 1940s. Many schools from Texas to the Carolinas remain closed this morning.

Governors, especially in states without snowplows, are urging drivers to stay home,

and thousands of flights have been canceled. The worst of the weather is expected to clear by later
