And we begin with one southern US city going out of its way to woo out of this world visitors.

In a new campaign aimed at bringing in more tourism, Lexington Kentucky is courting extraterrestrials.

Inspired by recent government hearings on the potential existence of

UFOs, the City's Convention and Visitors Bureau has beamed into space a coded bitmap image

praising the Rolling Hills lush bluegrass and horse farms of Central Kentucky.

This ET invitation is targeting other-worldly residents of the Trappist One solar system, which according

to the Associated Press, may be home to potentially habitable planets.

The city collaborated with various experts on the project and did get the thumbs up from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Trappist 1 is 40 light years away, so it'll take 40 years for the message to get there and another 40 at least to

receive a response.

Meantime residents of planet Earth are in store for a weather roller coaster.
