My name is Rob Maower, and today we're talking about Ford's Electric Vehicle Investment

Plans.

Stock markets were closed today for Martin Luther King Junior Day, but on Friday, Tesla finished

down 0.51%, to $336.22, this compared to the NASDAQ up 0.68%.

On the week, Tesla finished up 6.2% compared to the NASDAQ up 1.7%.

Supercharger network update is still pretty quiet here.

We do have one new station opening up in Pickering, Ontario, bringing the total up to

1,138 supercharging locations.

Today I wanted to spend some time discussing a recent announcement by Ford

to invest $11 billion in electric vehicles by 2022. Ford's chairman, Bill Ford, announced this on Sunday at the Detroit Auto Show.

And this was perfect timing because I just went on a different podcast and talked about how

there was not going to be serious competition for Tesla in the near future.

Now despite this announcement and despite similar announcements that we've seen in the past from

companies like Volkswagen, I do remain skeptical of the ability of competitors to offer vehicles as compelling as the

vehicles that Tesla will be offering. Before I expand a little bit more on that

point let's talk about what the announcement from Ford actually was. So they said

that they're upping their investment plans from

four and a half billion previously to 11 billion by 2022 and that by 2022 they would

have 40 electrified vehicles of which 16 would be fully electric, and the remaining 24
