And we begin with President Trump taking to the airwaves in prime time tonight

to talk to the American people about the ongoing

government shutdown, which is now in its 18th day. If the standoff lasts until

Saturday, it will be the longest shutdown in history, passing the previous record of 21 days, which took place

during the presidency of Bill Clinton. That one started in December 1995 and revolved

around spending cuts and tax increases.

This one is about border security and how to pay for it.

The White House says Mr. Trump will make his case again on Thursday

when he visits the U. US-Mexico border in person.

College football's biggest night ended with one of its biggest upsets, defying all odds and

expectations Clemson took down number one Alabama last night to lay claim to the national championship.

Both teams went in undefeated but the Crimson Tide was still heavily favored.

In the end though, the game wasn't even close.

The Tigers' 19-year-old true freshman quarterback,

Trevor Lawrence, stole the show with 347 yards

and three touchdowns.

Final score, Clemson 44, Alabama 16.
