| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of the Jeff Macalino podcast. Please like, subscribe, and if you have an iPhone, give me a five-star rating and write a review. |
| 0:19.0 | I appreciate you all listening and sharing with a friend today on the podcast. I'm talking with Mike EP. Mike is a musician, podcaster, Twitch streamer, videographer, and a bunch of other things. |
| 0:40.0 | He's a full-time musician. He has a podcast we speak English good, which I love the name of the podcast. |
| 0:50.0 | That's a podcast where he talks to musicians. He's had guests ranging from Grammy winners to hometown heroes. |
| 1:02.0 | I'm talking with Mike today, kind of delving a little bit into music, which is not something I honestly know all that much about. |
| 1:11.0 | So I will talk to him soon. I would be remiss if I didn't mention my quarterback's retirement being official. |
| 1:26.0 | Drew Breeze hanging him up and those of you who know me know I've been a Saints fan since I was three years old. |
| 1:39.0 | And yes, I became a Saints fan because I was three and I collected football cards and I loved the Saints uniforms. |
| 1:46.0 | So that's the reason I am a Saints fan despite not growing up in New Orleans. I'm deadly loyal once I picked that team, I stuck with him. |
| 1:56.0 | And actually the funny side note that that specific card that made me a Saints fan was a Ricky Jackson, the Hall of Fame linebacker. |
| 2:06.0 | And I'm not much of an autograph guy, but I did get to meet him in high school and he autographed that card. I have that framed in my house today. |
| 2:16.0 | So the reason back in high school it was a curse that I was a Saints fan. |
| 2:22.0 | That's when Aaron Brooks was the quarterback and sadly, although Archie Manning fans might disagree with me, he was probably the best quarterback to Saint Tad till Drew Breeze came along. |
| 2:36.0 | And a couple funny things, I mean I remember growing up and I think people legitimately felt bad for me being a Saints fan because it was just, it was torture. |
| 2:49.0 | I grew up with the Heath Shuler, Danny Wurfel, Carrie Collins had a cup of coffee there. I forget why I don't know if it was a DUI or what, but he got cut from the Panthers before he went to the Giants and went to a Super Bowl, coached by Sean Payton, by the way, offensive coordinator of that team. |
| 3:14.0 | He had a brief stint in New Orleans, which broke up the Billy Joe's. We had Billy Joe, you know, when you have two quarterbacks in your franchise history named Billy Joe, Billy Joe Hobart and Billy Joe to Oliver. |
| 3:27.0 | It was a rough go of things. And I mean, this is a team that for years, I would say the best player was arguably a kicker in Morton Anderson, maybe until Willie Roof came around, which an offensive lineman. |
| 3:42.0 | And not real great news for your franchise, if you don't have any skill position players worth mentioning, but you got a tackle and a kicker that were the cornerstones of the team. |
| 3:56.0 | So it wasn't the Saints franchise was not really in great shape to say it likely before Gerberis came along. And of course, Sean Payton came the same year. |
| 4:09.0 | And I do remember Gerberis with the Chargers young quarterback that I liked a lot. He had a great 2004 season. He was pretty good in 2005. They drafted Philip Rivers. |
| 4:25.0 | So the writing was kind of on the wall for him, which I still think the Chargers made a mistake there, but good for me. |
| 4:35.0 | But I do remember week 17 watching his last game with the Chargers and he dove for a fumble and his shoulder got, I don't even know if you can find the video anymore, because it was pretty gruesome the way his shoulder got ripped. |
