Patricia Docker, a 25-year-old nurse and recently separated single mother, made plans to go out dancing at the majestic ballroom in Glasgow, Scotland.

At some point during the night, plans changed, and Patricia wound up at the popular Barrelands ballroom for a 25-and-older singles night.

The next morning, Patricia's new body was discovered just yards from the apartment she shared with her parents.

18 months later, a 32-year-old recently separated single mother by the name of Jimima McDonald arranged to go out dancing as well.

Jimima attended the bustling Barrelands ballroom, but never returned home.

Three days later, her sister Margaret discovered her body in an abandoned building, just a few hundred yards from her home.

Less than three months later, 29-year-old Helen Puddock tells her husband that she's going out dancing with her sister, Jean.

The two women arrive at the Barrelands ballroom where they meet and spend time with two men, both named John.

As the night grows late, one John takes a bus home, while the other shares a cab ride with the sisters.

Jean exits the cab near her home when Helen and John continue down a few blocks to where Helen lives with her parents, husband and two children.

The next morning, Helen's body is discovered in the garden behind her building, and the mysterious John becomes the prime suspect.

It is this murder which causes the police to connect the dots and begin to consider that they may have a serial killer on their hands.

The similarities are impossible to ignore. All three women were beaten, raped, strangled with their own stockings or tights, and left just yards from their homes.

In addition to these facts, all three women have their purses stolen, and strangely, all three were menstruating at the time of their death.

The other thing that the three women have in common, they all spent their last night at the Barrelands ballroom.

Jean recounts that he quoted the Bible frequently, and the media jumps on, dubbing the rapist and murderer, Bible John.

Scotland launches its largest manhunt to that point, floods the dance clubs with undercover cops, and conducts a massive door to door inquiry.

Despite their dedication and hard work, they can uncover no new information, and are no closer to identifying the man known as Bible John, when suddenly the attacks stop.

The suspect lists numbers over 1,000, with a small handful considered to be most likely, but none fit the bill completely.

Was it a police officer on the job during the day, and stalking and murdering women at night?

Or perhaps they were the first crimes of a rapist and murderer, captured and convicted for other crimes, 37 years later?
