That's Michael Marshall. Today we're going to be covering Joe's 2007 moon landing debate with astronomer Phil Plate on the

Pendgillette radio show. Marsh, how did this debate come about? So in 2002, Penn and Teller were on

Fear Factor, you know, where Penn met with the host, which was a young comedian by the name of Joe Rogan.

And to hear Penn tell it, and we will hear Penn tell it a bit, they just hid it off right

away.

They were really sympathical, great friends immediately, getting on famously up until the moment that

Joe told Penn that the moon landing never happened.

And this apparently blew Penn's mind and he couldn't believe that this guy who agreed with

him on so much stuff didn't agree about something as fundamental as whether the moon landing took

place. Fast forward a few years, Penn's got this live weekly radio show and he's hanging

around the skeptics movement too he regularly went to the amazing

meeting and things like that and he was friends with the bad astronomer phil plate who wrote for

slate and wrote for multiple other places too so as a result penn sets up this conversation between

joe rogan and someone who actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to the moon landing.

So why exactly are we covering this?

So this, first of all, this was literally my first ever exposure to Joe Rogan.
