There was one other major story yesterday in sports that had nothing to do with the Pistons losing last night, which we'll get back to.

It had nothing to do with the low number of entries in the NBA draft, which is great for college basketball.

It's not great for the NBA.

It's great for college basketball.

It also does increase the average age of the players drafted by in the NFL and the NBA because you've had the same impact on the NFL you had in. They talked about this leading to the NFL draft that there were fewer for the back end of the draft. There are fewer players there that you would normally take at the younger age and you end up taking guys that are a little older than you used to take.

Same thing is going to happen in the NBA.

You're going to end up with a few more guys that get drafted at a little bit older age

because you have fewer underclassmen that are in the draft.

So there is that impact on it.

There's also the thing that happened yesterday, the news that came across yesterday

has nothing to do with the new potential eligibility that is going to squeeze high school

athletes because I was messaging with our guy Vinny down in North Carolina and he was

asking about roster numbers at the college level.

And the fact is, the roster numbers aren't going to change now. The new roster limits have been set by the house settlement. So what size your basketball team? What size your football team? The other teams are in your campus? What size those teams are? The max size is dictated by the house settlement. Now, if you're not going to the max roster size, that's on your school. That's on your program. But if you're going to the max roster size, you can't change that number just because there's going to be potentially more guys that want to stay in school or having more eligibility or that's not going to happen. What's going to end up happening is you're going to have fewer roster spots every year for high school kids.

And you're not going to have a whole lot of opportunities for situations like, say, a fad five.

Because I don't think you're going to have a ton of basketball recruiting classes that have five freshmen in it.

It's just not going to happen that way a whole lot anymore.

You'll end up with a freshman or two, a transfer or two, and then a lot of retention.

The money is there.

And then the, obviously, the money is there at the NIL level.

And if you're at the right program, you're getting good development too.
