So there's not a whole lot growing.

There's some kid toys that have been planted somehow in the soil and a few straggling plants that somehow made it through a few

Arctic blasts we've had lately. There's not a whole lot growing. And I look out over this

bear space that's resting right now in winter. It's 40 feet of raised cedar beds that run the

length of our house here in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

As I look out over this space, I recall seven years of memories here. Little hands covered in soil. First, it was

Grace, and then Joshua, and then little Sarah carefully placing

the tiniest seeds into little holes we make with sticks or pencils when it's seed planting time.

I remember squirting my little gardeners with the hose when I'm out here watering all the plants

and watching their surprised faces.

Burst with joy, saying,

Do it again!

Wee!
