A little basketball talk, but not more from the conversation from the last hour.

We'll get back to that coming up a little bit later on.

Not as much depressing.

No, this is not depressing.

This is a different conversation to get to here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTKA online at the Big 1050.com.

So the NBA draft combine is going on right now in Chicago.

And we've talked about how Yaks, Adai, and Merez have

done themselves wonders when it comes to, I mean, just the testing and the drills and all that

stuff. They're terrific. And then we knew that when it got to the interview portion, they've done

a lot of media avails. I don't know about how much they've done when it comes to interviews with individual franchises right now. I don't know what that full process looks like, but obviously over the course of these five, six weeks before the draft, they're going to have the opportunity to have individual conversations with teams. And we know their personalities. We know what they're about. and we know, I mean, for example, Yax, and we know Yax's story, et cetera. And we've heard Yax speak a lot. And we know Yax is, he's a great kid. He's a great basketball player. And he's a little bit of character, right? He likes to have a good time. He's smiling. He's a little, just a little bit of that, right? You got to have fun.

You got to have a little fun in life. It's basketball, right? You're playing sports. You're

supposed to have a good time. And you see that coming out, exuding his personality coming out and shining

through. And I think that he, and really all three of them will kill it in interviews. I think when Merez and Adai get into interviews and they have conversations about, you know, going from their previous schools to Michigan and what they learn and the growth of their game and this, that, and the other. I think all three are going to thoroughly impress in interviews. I'm not going to name names, but I'll be honest. There have been players in the past, whether it's Michigan guys or others, where you know there are guys, you know, that guy's not going to do very well in the interview. And he may cost himself some draft spots because he does not get interviewed well. Maybe it shouldn't matter, but he's not going to interview well. And sometimes you find out, again, character of the athlete in a short conversation and you hear

things and can feel some of that stuff.

And that's not going to be an issue.

The character and the basketball and all of that stuff, all that comes together for all

three of our players that are in the combine and in this draft.

They have terrific basketball skill.

They have terrific measurables. And they are great kids. Men. They're young men at this point. I'm not really don't want to call them kids. They're young men. I mean, and Yaxe is, you know, obviously the oldest of the crew. They're young men. They're young men and they're great guys. And it's fun to hear them, you know, keep telling their story and keep answering questions about in different ways. And there was one in particular that jumped out to me. And I'll tell a Miz about this. I want to play the short audio clip for you. Then we'll talk a little bit more about it. But Adai Mara had sat down for a one-on-one with Andy Katz. And Andy, who does a lot of stuff with the Big Ten and others. Andy does a good job doing the interviews. And I'm a little surprised by the answer. The question was kind of like, who do you model your game after? How do you play? Like that kind of thing. Where do you get your skill set? Like, as far as you do you watch? And part of the answer makes a lot of sense from a die, and part of the answer came completely

and totally out of left field.

I love it.
