Let's get back to it behind enemy lines with Alejandro Zaniga now talking about the Washington defense.

As we continue here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTCA.

Flipping our attention to that Husky's defense, we mentioned the defensive coordinator is Ryan Walters,

formerly of Purdue head coach and obviously rose through the ranks at Illinois, where he coordinated some very good defenses that challenged Michigan, particularly back in 2023.

This season, the Huskies have the 10th ranked scoring defense in the Big 10 at about 20 points per game allowed.

Stronger against the rush than against the pass.

Against the pass, they are allowing 236 yards per game,

ranked 11th in the Big 10 in total defense, allowing nearly 320 yards per game.

Ryan Walters, when he was at Illinois and somewhat as well at Purdue, he was very big

ongoing man-to-man, single high safety, and then mixing things up along the defensive front.

When we were talking to Sharon more earlier this week, he shouted out the two big cornerbacks that Washington's going

to roll out there. That's Ephesians Prysock and Ticario Davis. Both of them are six foot

four, very athletic corners who can play some press man and muck things up on the outside.

Chris, give us the breakdown of that Washington defense. What's gone well and

what hasn't gone so well so far this year? I think in general, O'Hanar, I think they've done a

nice job of keeping everything in front of them. There haven't really been a ton of big plays

put over the top, but I also think that's

been very scheme dependent. I think Ryan Walters has done a deliberate job of trying to create a

but don't break style in his first year. And there are some signature things that he did not only

at Purdue, but also at Illinois before when he literally created the
