Welcome back to the Michigan insider here in the Big 1050 WTCA online at the big 1050.com. A couple of defensive guys that we heard from after the spring game on Saturday. We heard from Assemaoa, graduate transfer linebacker, of course, has younger brother freshman Celessi Moa on the roster as well. We also heard from Lugard, Edug Pai. So let's start first with Asa Moa, graduate student linebacker who met with the media after the spring game. Now here is Asaamoa on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTCA. I'll say I did well. Good drops, good coverage. Had a couple tackles. What about your brother? My little brother? Oh, he was balling. He was doing this thing out there. Super excited for him. It's always fun to watch and play. How different is it for you to be here after being on the other side of the robbery? Oh, yeah. It's awesome over here. I mean, I love it over here. I'm nothing bad to say about nobody, but I love it over here. Very grateful to be here. It's best program in college football. you go by ice ice sir. What do you think of the linebacking core, the whole group?

Yeah, just about, like, the culture and the technical practice run. I mean, a bunch of guys that play really hard, really hard football. Really smart, really smart group, especially on the defense picked up the defense really fast excited

have had experience in this particular defense before coming here from a couple of schools ago. Yeah. But how has that maybe helped your learning curve? And how have you seen the other guys going to take to the defense? Yeah, I mean, I would say I knew the defense pretty well. I played lineback green up before. So it was nice to come in already knowing the defense. But then for the guys, especially in the lineback room, like, they picked it up super fast. They're out there communicate and they're talking through all the checks. Like, everybody picking up the defense really fast. So it's been a good spring. How much of a pool was it to come and play with your brother here? What do you mean? I mean, how much is that factory and just coming into playing with him? Oh, I mean, yeah, like, I got to play my older brother at BYU, so, like, the opportunity to play with my little brother. I mean, I got something I couldn't pass up, so, you know, I had to take advantage of it. We talked about it, you know, it was going to be a great experience to come here together, play in the big house, play for the best team in college football.

2:51.2

So, yeah. Knowing what you know about to be, that's how much did you guys really share today? I mean, like, it's like percentage wise. Like, I mean, I imagine it's pretty basic. How much did we show today? Um, no, not too much. You know, we, we were out there doing our thing, you know, base calls, just running around, having fun, see guys make plays, see everybody around.

3:10.3

But that was kind of the idea of just to kind of run as basic. Yeah, I mean, yeah, we just run a base play, you know. For more of this interview, head to mgobleu.com. That's mgobleu.com. That is Asaamo at the end they're talking about his brother, but a Sama-M-O is a graduate student linebacker who, of course, has followed his former coach, Jay Hill from BYU to play here as well.

3:33.4

He also played at Michigan State last year playing on, playing some linebacker and some special teams as well.

3:39.1

But he played for Jay Hill at BYU in 2020, 23, and in 2024.

3:45.1

So Asai, Moa, graduate student linebacker for the Wolverines.

He met with the media after the spring game on Saturday, as did Lugard,

3:53.1

Lugard, Edug Pai, who is now a junior defensive end.

3:57.1

He's an edge defender from Bowie, Maryland, with the Bishop McNamara. He's 6-7, about 250. Last year, he played in eight games in 2024 as a freshman. He did not play in any game action. But last year, started to get a little bit of game action. And now more is expected out of him as an edge defender for the Wolverines. So we heard from Lugar for a few minutes on Saturday after the spring game. So here are a few minutes with Lugard, Eduk Paii after the spring game on Saturday. Now here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTK. You didn't know what to expect having a new staff come in. So I'd say just how everybody stayed together just as one one. And just, yeah, all the players, I mean, since I'm kind of transitioning from that younger guy to older guy, you see, I kind of have to take that role of, you know, saying, like, how you're doing to the younger guys, kind of leading them on. So just, yeah, being closer together. How about talent-wise? Talent was, yeah, I feel like, man, the sky's the tough how about talent wise talent wise um yeah we've

4:49.0

i feel like man the sky's the limit for this team this year because to have talent every room

4:53.2

you know you see offense you look at the receiver room you look at the running back room you know

4:56.8

even on defense um we have a lot of talent there this school always been a good defense in this

5:01.6

sky's limit for our team who's the toughest offensive linemen you've gone against his friends?

5:06.5

There's a lot of tough alignment. I can't really single out one. I'd say if I had to try, I'd say Andrew Sprague, he's a dog. Of course, all the guys on the top of the line are dogs. But yes, sir, we get better every day we go at it. Who set the tone on the defense tackle group?
