Let's talk some basketball here on the Michigan.

Real quickly, we'll do the rankings recap and lead into the basketball conversation.

So hockey rankings came out yesterday.

The new USCHA poll in Michigan dropped.

I mean, what is it like if one or two votes from that flip the other direction,

they're really close in the rank. The points totals are really close. But Michigan states now first in the USC-H-O poll. Michigan's two, which makes sense. Michigan won an overtime and then lost on Saturday. And Michigan's a point behind them in the Big Ten. So, like, there are a few points behind them in the rankings. It's all kind of negligible. And really, only thing that matters is the NPI or whatever the Paralyze or whatever replaced the Paralyze is, that's the one that actually matters. Yeah, the Paraguay's got replaced. You didn't know that one? Yeah, they replaced it with it. It's called like the, like the NPI or something for like the NCAA's pairing. I don't even know. But that's like, I think that's what it's called. It's like the, it's, I guess. Why USH, why USCHA still has Paraguay on their website then is beyond me, but. Yeah, NPI. So that is what is called. NPI and Michigan is, and then even in the NPI, Michigan State is just by a little bit, I guess, but Michigan State is one.

Michigan is two.

So that makes sense.

But actually benefits the Big Ten because Penn State's six in the rankings, but fifth in the NPI.

NPI, national collegiate percentage index, which is really NCPI, but they call the NPI.

So anyway, not here nor there.

Apparently the NCPI is something else.

It's associated with something else.

I just don't know.

Yeah, Michigan is number two in the, in both rankings.

The ranking that really matters is the NPI because that's where they direct seed from that ranking.

So there's that.

On the women's side, Michigan actually moved up in the AP poll from 8 to 7 following their one-in-one week. They're the team, the only team that's played UCLA close. Like, it's not a moral victory. We're not taking that out of it. It's just point of fact. Nobody else in the Big Ten had played UCLA that close for the entirety of a game. And I don't think anybody had, you know, a chance at the end of a game to maybe force overtime in the Big Ten all season long. The closest team to do it, apparently, was Ohio State. And it was a seven point loss. And then obviously, they only lost to Texas who's really good. So anyway, so Michigan moved up to seven in that ranking. But the ranking that really matters on the women's side, again, is the net ranking. And it's not a direct. They don't do just one through and just S-curve it off the net ranking, but they use it as one of the major rankings they use as a guide. And Michigan is six in the net. The significance of that, one, you want to stay in the top 16.

Yep.

And so they're in a very comfortable position for that because if you're in the top 16, you're hosting.

So you're very comfortable with that. But ideally you want to be in a position where you can be a two seed. and ideally you will put yourself in a position where you're a two-seat and you're, I mean, I guess, whether it's Yukon or UCLA or South
