I feel with our Detroit Tigers here in town, it is two steps forward and then it's either one, two, three, or four steps backwards.

0:13.3

That's kind of how it feels.

0:14.3

They finally put an all-a-wrong game together yesterday.

0:18.1

They have clutch hitting.

0:19.7

They're able to put some runs on the board.

0:22.1

They are able to take care of business yesterday with a 4-0 victory over the Angels.

0:26.3

Now, we can put a couple things on this.

0:28.9

One, it was against the worst team in the American League, but the Tigers had been tied

0:32.3

with the Angels for the worst record of the American League, and they had lost to

0:35.2

them the previous day.

0:36.1

So got that part of it.

0:38.1

But then on top of it, Casey Mize leaves the game after the fourth inning due to injury.

0:43.9

And then you have Kenley Janssen leave the game in the ninth inning also due to injury.

0:49.6

And actually the injury sound fairly similar.

0:52.0

It was Casey Mize with right groin with right groin tightness. Ken Kelly Janssen with a right groin injury. So kind of sounding similar. After the game, Casey Mize did say, obviously we'll know more in the next couple of days. I don't think it was as bad as what I felt in Atlanta, but we'll see how I wake up tomorrow and feel. So we'll get updates, I'm sure, on Casey Meyes later on today. They finally get him back. He actually pitched pretty well yesterday. He had four scoreless innings. He was doing a really solid job, and he comes out of the game. He had six strikeouts through four innings, a couple of hits in there in a walk. But he was doing a really good job, limiting base runners and getting taken care of business. He's been, when he's been healthy, he's been pretty solid. He has a 227 ERA. But Casey Mize cannot stay healthy, at least this season, and it seems like that's been the case on and off throughout the course of his career. Staying healthy is, what is availability is one of the most important things that you can be as an athlete. Obviously, you've got to be highly skilled, et cetera, but you need to be available. And I feel like Casey Myers is not available all that much. And then Kenley Jansen goes down. He had pitched two thirds of an inning. He did give a walk in there. But he was looking all right. And then he comes out with the injury. He has not had his finest stuff this season, but he's been looking a little bit better, well, I was going to say a little bit better as of late, but he was awful in Baltimore, so I take that back. Outside of that outing in the outing in Baltimore, he's been great in the month of May. In fact, the outing in Baltimore, those are the only runs. He give up three earned runs in that outing. Those are the only earned runs he has given up in the month of May. But he goes down with an injury yesterday as well. And so it feels like you make that progress or you're making progress, but you look like a more competent baseball team let's put it that

2:34.6

way you look more like a competent baseball team than you had in previous games recently and

2:40.2

then you lose key guys again so i'm the amount of frustration i can only imagine what that level

2:46.5

of frustration is within the organization did get really good work out of Anderson uh drew Anderson, on the bullpen. He came in and pitched three innings, three strikeouts in there, three scoreless innings. He was really good. Kyle Finnegan, he pitched a scoreless inning. He's been, for the most part, he's been really solid. His last outing, he gave up that run, and he's given up a handful of runs this month.

3:08.3

But for the most part, Kyle Finnegan with a 156, or should be 175 ERA, has been really good.

3:14.4

And then Jansen and Hanofi finished things off, unfortunately for Jansen, he got hurt.

3:18.5

And so the pitching was really good yesterday.
