It was the final check-in with the Michigan football team as they get ready for the matchup against Washington. So yesterday we heard from offensive coordinator Chip Lindsay, who will get to in a moment or in a few minutes, I should say. But right now let's get to Michigan special teams coach J.B. Brown, who met with the media yesterday. Now here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTCA. Jay B, especially earlier in the season, it felt like someage was having issues, simply fielding the puns. How much is that is his positioning before the snap? How much is that is tracking the ball? And how do you correct that? Yeah, we've been working on correcting it the whole season. He's done a much better job as the season has progressed. I think we've put him in a better spot in alignment purposes pre-snap. The other thing is some balls have been falling short. Some balls have been going long from the punters just average and norm. So again, he's got to continue to work on tracking him. But he's done a good job of saving field position for us in that sense, though.

All right, Tony. The coverage on the unit seems to have been pretty good, both in the kick and the punt. But outside of that, it feels like there haven't been any explosives on return. Hunts been pretty short. The missed kicks, I guess. What are you seeing out of the unit? Yeah, no doubt. definitely we can't wait to get some more return opportunities in the sense you know

and kick off a lot of the guys as we go deeper into season are kicking the ball out of the hidden touchback, kicking out of the end zone. When we get our opportunity, we just need to take advantage of it in the return game. And then continue just to work on the consistency of punt, of getting it downfield a little bit further. But I think we're doing a better job of covering this year than we did last year even. Why is it that the punt doesn't, I mean, I know there were been two different punters last year, but it feels like it just hasn't been there. Yeah, no, definitely. You watch Hudson in practice and he's doing doing a phenomenal job he's becoming that guy

he's working on the transition from becoming the backup to now the starter I think you see 13 out

of his 22 clunts this year have been where we want them to be the other three were in

coughing situations where we're trying to pin the ball so the distance doesn't need to be there

just actually at that point and then you see about five that we probably want back at the end of the day. But overall, he's starting to get accustomed to the starting role. I think you're going to see the consistency these next six games from him, though. Yep. And the left, Brian? Bad thoughts. How much is his preparation or what are you done with him changed from the beginning of the year to now? Yeah, I think we've tried a couple different routines with him, and I think he's finally settled in on where he wants to be. So we're excited to see how it works this week and how he goes from now. And who's the backup partner? Beckham and Marlon both can get in there. So, I mean, I think we have plenty of options.

The biggest thing about our room is we love to compete.

They've been doing a great job at practicing, competing with one another,

and then we want to put the best product on the field for game today.
